Junk Drawers

A mystery in every drawer

There’s nothing quite like digging through a good junk drawer. I think most people have a junk drawer in their house somewhere or it could be a junk box of some kind. True hoarders have multiple junk drawers and boxes. It’s places that you put the random odd item that doesn’t really fit anywhere else in the house. Too good to throw away but not important enough to put in a spot where you know you will need it again soon.

Going through one of these drawers gives a person a sense of adventure. It has the feel of a 21st Century Pirate Treasure hunt or a Egyptian Archeologist going into a mummies tomb. You aren’t always sure what you might find and the farther down you dig the older the treasure!

When you dig through your own junk drawer it can bring back an array of memories. It could be items you’ve won like a medal or something from one of those little machines at the grocery store that you see as you exit. It’s a little trip down memory lane as you try to remember how each item was acquired and why you kept it all these years but never used it.

The real adventure begins when you get the rare chance to go through someone else’s junk drawer. It could be a family member has decided to clean things out and you are helping or maybe you just decided to snoop through someone’s stuff. (Mousey’s World does not condone this behavior.) Now you don’t just find cool things but begin to understand the inner psyche of another human being. Nothing can really help you understand an individual more than their junk drawer.

I’d just like to state that I pity the organized individuals that don’t have junk drawers. They will never know the feelings that flow over a person as they dig through a junk drawer. It brings out the amatuer archeologist in all of us as we unearth little trinkets of treasure that once were lost but now are found.
